USF Athletics Officially Welcomes Brent Blaylock to the Hilltop

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Brent Blaylock, who was appointed as the Director of Athletics at the University of San Francisco (USF) on June 9, was introduced publicly to the media and Dons faithful on Tuesday, Aug. 18 at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
Blaylock brings more than 20 years of professional and collegiate sport experience to the Hilltop, having most recently served as Executive Deputy Athletic Director and Chief Operating Officer at Oregon State University. Before Oregon State, Blaylock worked at the University of Arizona from 2017 to 2024, where he served in a variety of roles, including the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Administration and Institutional Control.
"Overall, the goal of USF Athletics is to become the best version of ourselves," said Blaylock.
Several core principles guide his vision for USF Athletics:
With the landscape of collegiate athletics rapidly changing each year, Blaylock has already begun taking steps to implement transformational changes, including hiring two leadership positions within the athletics department.
"The best organizations are incredibly intentional about what they want to become, how they want to align their people, and their daily actions around getting there."
Blaylock encouraged fans, supporters, and the community to join him in taking action to help USF achieve its full potential. "We all need to do more than ever before to realize the true potential for USF Athletics," said Blaylock.
Inspired by great leaders of the past and present, Blaylock was attracted to the region for its history of innovation and creative problem solving, as well as the university's commitment to excellence in academics and athletics.
"I believe deeply in what is possible here. We have an extraordinary university, we have talented student-athletes and coaches, we have passionate alumni and supporters, we live in one of the greatest cities in the world. And we have an opportunity to build something that represents all of those things at the highest level."
