Hall of Fame
Walter Henry Nieland was born on June 3, 1905 in San Francisco of German immigrant parents, and graduated from the then Saint Ignatius College in 1928. He played both football and basketball, and was Vice President of the Saint Ignatius Block Club, composed of members who had won athletic awards. He worked for the Bouquet-Cohn Cigar Company, which opened in 1949 in San Francisco. He was inducted into the USF Hall of Fame in 1976.
