
Dons Earn 3-Set Sweep Against Seattle U

SEATTLE, Wash. --Â The San Francisco volleyball team earned a straight-set victory over Seattle U, defeating the Redhawks 25-21, 25-18, 25-20 Thursday evening at Redhawk Center.
With the win, the Dons improved to 9-7 overall and 1-2 in West Coast Conference play.
Andjela Sojic paced the San Francisco attack with seven kills while hitting .286, while Emma Neukirchen added six kills on a .750 hitting percentage. Neukirchen also made an impact from the service line, recording a match-high six aces.
Defensively, Laura Amaro led the Dons with eight digs, while Neukirchen added four blocks. Jordan Smart finished with a team-high 16 assists.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- San Francisco used a strong performance from the service line to take the opening set, recording five aces in the 25-21 victory.
- After the lead changed hands early, the Dons took control at 14-13 and held the advantage for the remainder of the frame
- San Francisco carried the momentum into the second set, hitting .385 with 12 kills en route to a 25-18 win and a 2-0 match advantage.
- The Dons continued their efficient attack in the third, recording 13 kills while hitting .357.
- San Francisco also made its presence felt defensively in the final frame, totaling five blocks before closing out the sweep, 25-20.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Sojic led San Francisco with seven kills while hitting .286 and added four digs and three blocks.
- Neukirchen turned in an all-around performance with six kills on eight attempts without an error, finishing with a .750 hitting percentage. She also recorded six service aces and four blocks.
- Maeve Bailey added five kills without an error on nine attempts, good for a .556 hitting percentage.
- Smart dished out a team-high 16 assists while adding six digs and one service ace.
- Amaro anchored the back row with a team-high eight digs while also contributing five assists and one ace.
- As a team, San Francisco hit .313 with 36 kills and just 11 attack errors while finishing with nine service aces.
