Lauren AbuAli scored a goal in the second minute Friday, as the University of San Francisco women's soccer team defeated Pacific 1-0 at Negoesco Stadium in San Francisco. The win marked the first of Head Coach
Jim Millinder's era on the Hilltop.
With the victory, the Dons improve to 1-0-2 this season. The last time USF opened a season undefeated in the opening three games of the season was in 2010. San Francisco has held opponents to just two goals in three games to begin the season.
Forward
Mackenzie Krieser led the Dons with four shots, while
Abigail Phillips was credited with the assist on AbuAli's goal. The goal was the first of the season for AbuAli.
The Dons were outshot by Pacific 15-9 on the afternoon, but made their early goal stand up for the final 88 minutes of play.
Freshman goal keeper
Madalyn Schiffel earned her first career shutout with the 1-0 blanking of the Tigers.
San Francisco returns to the field Sunday as they travel to Cal State Bakersfield. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
