SAN FRANCISCO – The USF baseball team looks to bounce back from a West Coast Conference series loss at Saint Mary's this past weekend with a mid-week nonconference contest at Stanford on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. from Sunken Diamond. Sophomore right-hander Grant Goodman (1-4, 12.00) will take the mound for the Dons (17-28) as he looks for his second win in a row after earning a victory in his last outing against San Jose State on Apr. 19 with 2.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Stanford (20-18) will throw lefty Andrew Summerville (3-2, 3.76).

Goodman took the loss back in 2014 in his only other career appearance versus Stanford. Goodman started that game, going 4.2 innings where he allowed five runs on six hits with a pair of walks and four strikeouts.

The Dons come into the week winners of six of their last eight, but dropped two of three at Saint Mary's this past weekend. USF lost the first game of the series 5-1 before jumping out to a 6-0 lead after the first two innings of game two en route to a 6-5 win. The rubber match went the Gaels' way as SMC rallied for three runs in the seventh to put the game away in a 4-2 USF loss.

Tuesday's action can be followed via live stats and a live video stream on GoStanford.com.

NOTABLES
Junior SS Nico Giarratano had his team-best on-base streak snapped at 18 games in Sunday's loss at Saint Mary's… during that streak, Giarratano tallied hits in 13 of the 18 games and hit .231 with a .342 on base pct... junior INF Dan James has been hot of late, hitting .367 (11 for 30) over his last 10 games, tallying a home run, three doubles, six RBI and three runs scored... he's slugging .567 with a .475 on base pct. over that span... redshirt junior INF Allen Smoot has hit safely in 21 of his last 26 games.

On the bump, junior RHP Joey Carney and senior LHP Frank Waliczek have been solid out of the bullpen of late… Carney has not allowed a run in his last seven appearances, only surrendering one hit while striking out six in 5.2 innings pitched during that span… Carney has recorded all of his team-leading four saves during that stretch as well… Waliczek has thrown a total of two scoreless innings over his last four appearances, stranding all three runners he's inherited over that span.

ABOUT STANFORD
The Cardinal come into Tuesday's contest with a 20-18 overall record after dropping two of three at Oregon State this past weekend. Stanford is in the midst of a skid where they have lost nine of their last 11 contests.

OF/C Alex Dunlap leads the Cardinal at the plate, hitting .318 with a pair of home runs and 14 RBI. Outfielder Quinn Brodey has supplied the power for the Stanford lineup, clubbing a team-best five home runs and leading the squad with 28 RBI on the year.

As a team, Stanford enters the week hitting just .246, but the Cardinal staff has held opposing hitters to a meager .228 batting average against while boasting a 3.03 team ERA.

THE SERIES
The Dons are 12-57 against Stanford since 1976 (the last year records are available), including a 6-42 record on the road against the Cardinal. Stanford has won the last three meetings. USF's last win over the Cardinal came on May 7, 2013 when the Dons defeated then-No. 19 Stanford 4-3 at Sunken Diamond.
