SAN FRANCISCO – The USF baseball team looks to bounce back from a West Coast Conference series loss at Saint Mary's this past weekend with a mid-week nonconference contest at Stanford on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. from Sunken Diamond. Sophomore right-hander
Grant Goodman (1-4, 12.00) will take the mound for the Dons (17-28) as he looks for his second win in a row after earning a victory in his last outing against San Jose State on Apr. 19 with 2.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
Stanford (20-18) will throw lefty Andrew Summerville (3-2, 3.76).
Goodman took the loss back in 2014 in his only other career appearance versus Stanford. Goodman started that game, going 4.2 innings where he allowed five runs on six hits with a pair of walks and four strikeouts.
The Dons come into the week winners of six of their last eight, but dropped two of three at Saint Mary's this past weekend. USF lost the first game of the series 5-1 before jumping out to a 6-0 lead after the first two innings of game two en route to a 6-5 win. The rubber match went the Gaels' way as SMC rallied for three runs in the seventh to put the game away in a 4-2 USF loss.
