USF's Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2017 was formally inducted on Friday evening at the Father Hubert "Hub" Flynn Hall of Fame Dinner held at the McLaren Conference Center on campus.
USF's Hall of Fame Class of 2017, the school's 43rd group of inductees, includes Eduardo Rangel '66 (soccer), James Hardy '78 (men's basketball), Tami Adkins '93 (women's basketball), Patrick McGuigan '06 (baseball) and Dr. Sandee Hill, who was inducted in the special service category.
In addition, Dr. Coragene Savio was honored with the Don of the Year Award for their longtime and unwavering support of USF Athletics.
With the inclusion of the new members, USF's Athletic Hall of Fame now includes 267 individuals and 20 teams.
The program was hosted by Anthony Congi, a 2007 USF graduate.
Rangel was presented by legendary USF soccer coach, Steve Negoesco.Many of Rangel's teammates, including hall of famers Luis Sagastume and Lothar Osiander, gathered around Rangel's wheelchair in one of the most moving parts of the evening. McGuigan was presented by former USF pitching coach Greg Moore, while Adkins was greeted by former head coach Bill Nepfel. Mary Hile-Nepfel presented Hill while former USF men's basketball coach Bob Gaillard and Dons' legend Bill Cartwright presented Hardy.
