
Championship Bound: Dons Defeat Tigers to Advance to WCC Tournament Final

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The University of San Francisco baseball team (27-29) earned its first-ever bid to the West Coast Conference Tournament championship game in the current format following a 10-6 victory over Pacific (24-30-1) Friday evening at Scottsdale Stadium.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Pacific gained an early lead at the bottom of the first inning, scoring a pair of runs for a 2-0 advantage.
- Jayden Garrison erased the deficit with a two-RBI double to right-center field, scoring Eddison Esquivel, in the following frame to tie the game at two.
- Esquivel put the Dons on top shortly after, driving in two runs in the third inning on a liner off the glove of second baseman Brendan O'Sullivan, giving the green and gold a 4-2 edge.
- Three runs for Pacific in the bottom of the third inning gave the Tigers the lead back at 5-4.
- In the first pitch of the at-bat, TJ Rogers regained the lead for San Francisco, recording a long three-run home run in the fourth for a 7-5 advantage.
- Garrison continued his impressive offensive performance two innings later, as he sent a solo home run over the left-center field wall to extend the margin to three, 8-5.
- Despite the Tigers trimming their deficit to 8-6, Isaiah Landry pounced on the first pitch he saw in the top of the ninth, plating Myles Kallinger and Garrison to push the lead to 10-6.
- Quentin Pohorski pitched a scoreless final frame, allowing two baserunners, before securing the victory for the green and gold with a popout to shallow left field.
- The bottom of the batting order paced San Francisco, with Garrison and Landry combining for six hits in eight at-bats, five RBI, two walks, and three runs scored. Landry totaled four hits and two RBI while Garrison posted a double and his fourth home run of the season.
- Rogers went one-for-four at the plate, registering his team-leading 12th home run, a three-run blast to give the Dons the lead in the fourth inning.
- Esquivel also recorded a multi-hit game, with two singles, two RBI, two walks, and a run scored.
- Jake Andreas earned his second-career start in the elimination game, pitching 2.1 innings while allowing four runs on five hits and striking out two batters.
- Alan Gonzalez earned the win on the mound in relief, totaling 2.1 innings, the longest outing of the season, and allowed one run on four hits.
- Gino Rossi also recorded his longest outing this season, pitching 2.2 scoreless frames with two strikeouts.
