
San Francisco Handles Santa Clara, Advances in the WCC Tournament

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The University of San Francisco baseball team (25-28) earned a convincing 10-4 victory over Santa Clara (25-29) in the opening round of the West Coast Conference Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at Scottsdale Stadium.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- San Francisco jumped ahead in the first inning when TJ Rogers crossed home plate on an Eddison Esquivel bases-loaded sacrifice fly for a 1-0 advantage.
- Trevor Harmon extended the Dons' lead in the following frame, recording a three-run home run over the left-field wall to push the advantage to 4-0.
- The green and gold added to its lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, plating three runs for a 7-0 edge. Isaiah Landry highlighted the scoring with a two-run single through the left side of the infield.
- Santa Clara put runs on the board at the top of the seventh when Thomas Ferroggiaro posted a three-run blast, getting the team to within 7-3.
- Zack Ramppen answered the Broncos' rally in the bottom half of the seventh with a bases-clearing three-run double to push the Dons' lead to 10-3.
- Despite Santa Clara adding a tally in the eighth, San Francisco closed the door in the final frame to solidify the 10-4 victory.
- Ramppen paced San Francisco offensively throughout the contest, going two-for-four at the plate with two doubles and four RBI. His four-RBI game marked the most runs Ramppen has driven in his career.
- Jackson Nystrom reached base five times, totaling three hits in three at-bats, a walk, and reaching on a catcher's interference.
- Harmon recorded his fifth home run of the season, third in the last five games, and totaled three RBI and one run.
- Gabriel Barrett pitched five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out four batters, to earn his third win of the season.
- Quentin Pohorski tied the team lead in saves, posting his eighth, while pitching the last four frames and allowing four runs on three hits.
