
Dons Drop Heartbreaker to Tigers in Second Game of the WCC Tournament

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The University of San Francisco baseball team (25-29) dropped a heartbreaking 8-4 decision to Pacific (24-28-1) in the West Coast Conference Tournament on Thursday evening at Scottsdale Stadium.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- For the second day in a row, San Francisco jumped in front as Tyler Harries plated Jackson Nystrom with a sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning for a 1-0 lead.
- Pacific answered in the bottom of the second, scoring twice to take a 2-1 advantage.
- Trevor Harmon tied the game later in the sixth inning, recording a solo home run over the left-field wall to even the score at two.
- For the second time, the Tigers responded, regaining the lead on a JT Shank two-run blast for a 4-2 edge.
- Zack Ramppen trimmed into the deficit in the eighth inning, plating Eddison Esquivel with an RBI double to get within 4-3.
- The green and gold tied the game at the top of the ninth inning as TJ Rogers pushed a single through the right side of the infield to score Isaiah Landry from second base.
- Pacific won the game in the final half frame with Jake Tandy recording a walk-off grand slam for the 8-4 victory.
- For the second straight game, Harmon recorded a home run for his fifth of the season. He finished the contest going one-for-five, with an RBI and a run scored.
- Ramppen recorded his second multi-hit game of the tournament, going two-for-three, with a double, an RBI, and a hit-by-pitch.
- Gauge Lockhart battled through five innings of work, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out two batters.
UP NEXT:
With the loss, San Francisco drops to the losers' bracket and will take on top-seeded Gonzaga at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, at Scottsdale Stadium.
