HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Dons (8-13, 1-9 WCC) had to battle the Tigers in the first set, as both teams went back and forth through the first 33 points. The set featured 12 ties and seven lead changes, all until USF went on a decisive 6-0 run to take a 22-17 lead. Erin Anthony's serve carried the Dons through the run. Sophie Sydenham had two kills, Marjolijn Oskam added another and Anthony logged an ace as the Dons marched to an eventual 25-20 set victory and a 1-0 match lead.
- After hitting just .051 in the first set, Pacific (8-12, 3-7 WCC) got back on track to hit .333 in the second. The set started much like the first, with the Dons coming back early to tie it at 6-6. Then Pacific ran off a 5-1 stretch, then later tacked on a 6-0 run, and all of a sudden it was 18-9. San Francisco fought back by scoring eight of the next 12 points, but the Tigers were able to finish off the set victory with kills from Alex Holt and Riley Ramsey to tie the match at 1-1.
- USF grabbed a quick lead in set three, but again Pacific took command, this time with an 8-1 run, and never looked back. The Tigers had 10 more kills than the Dons in the third set and held USF to .059 hitting. Seven of Ramsey's match-high 20 kills came in the third set, as she helped the Tigers win 25-17 and take a 2-1 match lead.
- Pacific closed the match out with a 25-9 win in the third set. The Dons were within 7-5 early, but Pacific went on a 6-0 run, then later followed that four straight points to lead 17-8. The Tigers would close the match with an 8-0 run with five kills, an ace and two USF errors.
- 3: Pacific had three players with double-digit kills and all three of them had double-doubles with digs as well. Ramsey (20 K, 11 D), Kaitlyn Lines (15 K, 11 D) and Riley Patterson (13 K, 16 D) all accomplished the feat for the Tigers.
- 6: The Dons had their second straight game with at least six service aces (8 on Thursday). Kathya Garcia had a team-high three aces, Ally Wada added two and Erin Anthony had one.
- 10: San Francisco had 10 total team blocks Saturday. It marked its first double-digit blocks match since Sept. 8 and just its fourth of the season. Oskam led the Dons with six blocks.
- The Dons travel to Southern California next week to face Loyola Marymount on Thursday and Pepperdine on Saturday. Fans can find all live coverage links on USFDons.com.
