
Osegueda Finds The Net In Home Matchup With Portland

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco women's soccer team battled Portland to the final whistle Wednesday night at Negoesco Stadium, but an early two-goal deficit proved too much to overcome as the Dons fell, 2-1, in West Coast Conference action.Â
Portland struck twice in the opening half behind a pair of goals from Ruby Settle, scoring in the ninth and 33rd minutes to take a 2-0 advantage into the break.Â
San Francisco responded immediately after halftime. In the 47th minute, Alicia Osegueda found the back of the net off a feed from Dalia Asad Halim, cutting the deficit to one with Osegueda's third goal of the season.Â
From there, the Dons continued to press for the equalizer, generating nine shots in the second half and finishing the match with a 17-8 advantage in total shots. San Francisco also put seven attempts on frame compared to five for Portland.Â

- Portland opened the scoring in the ninth minute before adding a second goal in the 33rd minute, with Ruby Settle accounting for both goals to give the Pilots a 2-0 advantage at halftime.Â
- San Francisco answered quickly out of the break as Alicia Osegueda scored in the 47th minute off an assist from Dalia Asad Halim, trimming the deficit to 2-1.Â
- The Dons continued to generate opportunities throughout the second half, recording nine shots after halftime and 17 overall while holding Portland to eight total attempts.
- San Francisco finished with seven shots on goal compared to Portland's five and outshot the Pilots in both halves, 8-4 in the first and 9-4 in the second.Â
- Despite several late chances, the Dons were unable to find the equalizer as Portland held on for the 2-1 result.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Osegueda led the San Francisco attack with four shots and two shots on goal, while recording the Dons' lone goal of the evening.Â
- Asad Halim picked up the assist on Osegueda's second-half strike and finished with three shots, including two on target.Â
- Sydni Yoshida added three shots with one on goal, while Hannah Burns also totaled three attempts.Â
- In goal, Tyra Bengtsson-Stenseth recorded three saves across the full 90 minutes.Â

San Francisco returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 10, when the Dons travel to Malibu to face Pepperdine at Tari Frahm Rokus Field. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
