SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco men's soccer center back Matthew Duggan was named the West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week after helping USF get a huge shutout win at LMU last Friday.

This is USF's fourth conference weekly honor after David Raphael most recently earned WCC Offensive Player of the Week accolades on Sept. 21. The Dons swept the Aug. 31 conference weekly awards with Nico Ruiz (Offensive) and William Krause (Defensive) winning those awards.

Since Duggan made his season debut two weeks ago (ACL injury), the Dons have not allowed a goal when he's on the pitch. USF posted the only shutout in the WCC last week as the Dons are in position to earn a spot in the WCC Men's Soccer Championship later this month.

Duggan and the Dons host first-place Portland on Friday at 7 p.m. from Negoesco Stadium. Follow along on usfdons.com and social media for updates on if the Dons will be competing the inaugural conference soccer tournament.
