SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Nick Bacura of the University of San Francisco baseball team has been named Rawlings West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week, announced by the league Monday afternoon.
Bacura closed the final two games of San Francisco's series victory over San Diego last weekend, pitching 2.0 scoreless innings, recording four strikeouts, and earning his league-leading seventh save of the season.
Making his first appearance during the weekend on Saturday, Apr. 11, Bacura pitched the top of the ninth inning, struck out the final two batters, and earned the save. He followed with another two strikeouts in the series finale, closing the door on the Toreros to give the program its first series victory over San Diego since 2022.
In 14 appearances out of the bullpen, Bacura has accumulated a 1.65 earned-run average, allowing only three runs in 16.1 innings pitched, ranking first in the WCC among pitchers with at least two saves this season.
For San Francisco, this weekly award marks the third for the team this season. Thomas Gonzales was named WCC Freshman of the Week on February 23, and Jayden Garrison was named WCC Co-Freshman of the Week on March 30.
