LAKE TAHOE, Nev. – Total Sports Consulting in partnership with Caesars Entertainment announced today the inaugural Caesars Lake Tahoe Classic, a premier opening-week college basketball showcase taking place Sunday, Nov. 8, at Tahoe Blue Event Center.
The event will feature four marquee men's and women's basketball matchups, with USC taking on Wichita State, Nevada facing Saint Mary's, and Houston meeting California. On the women's side, San Francisco is set to face off against California, bringing eight Division I programs to Lake Tahoe for a full day of college basketball.
Set against the backdrop of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada mountains, the Lake Tahoe Classic combines elite college basketball with one of the nation's premier year-round destinations. The event is expected to attract fans, alums, donors and supporters from across the country while continuing to establish Lake Tahoe as an emerging destination for nationally televised collegiate sporting events.
San Francisco enters 2026-27 after finishing last season with a 19-15 overall record while finishing seventh in the West Coast Conference with a 9-9 mark. The Dons' 19 wins were the most in a season since posting a 19-13 record during the 2022-23 campaign.
Head Coach Molly Goodenbour, entering her 11th season at the helm, returns nearly 70 percent of the scoring from last season's roster, notable returners include All-WCC First Team honoree Candy Edokpaigbe and WCC All-Freshman Team member Aina Cargol.
The Dons will also feature Noelia Mouriño, Nataša Taušová, and Paula Tirado for the upcoming season. Along with the returners, the Dons added five transfers in Ines Babaya (Salt Lake City Community College), Jayda Queeley (Pittsburgh), Savi Mi (Dodge City Community College), Keiryn McGuff (Akron/Bowling Green), and Lucia Yenes (New Mexico State) while welcoming Belize Ibáñez Mengüç, Emilie Beggs, and Maria Burliga as true freshmen.
Tickets for the 2026 Caesars Lake Tahoe Classic go on sale Wednesday, Sept. 2, through Ticketmaster and the Tahoe Blue Event Center Box Office. The event will feature two separate sessions, with fans able to purchase tickets to either individual session or take advantage of a discounted two-session package providing access to all four games. Premium courtside seating, suites, hospitality experiences and group ticket packages will also be available.
