Cross Country Captures Top-Two Finishes at USF Invitational

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The University of San Francisco (USF) men's and women's cross country programs began the 2026 season on a high note, earning top-two finishes at the USF Invitational.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Recording a top-ten finish in the USF Invitational for a second straight year, Herbie Johnson was the high finisher for the men's team as he finished second overall with a time of 23:56.3.
- Alongside Johnson, Petra Helebrantová also finished in the top ten for a second straight year, finishing as the top individual for the women's team at fourth overall with a time of 20:43.3.
- On the men's side, Leo Conil (24:00.3) and Daniel Abramowicz (24:18.0) placed in the top ten as well, finishing third and seventh, respectively. Pacific transfer Jack Weber finished 15th individually with a time of 24:36.9.
- Sophia Urizar impressed in her first race of the season, finishing a few spots back of Helebrantová at seventh overall with a time of 21:02.2. Additionally, Rose Perotin (21:08.2) finished ninth, Chloe Browne (21:08.6) finished tenth, and Faustine Chaboche finished eleventh (21:09.8). Ava Garnys (21:21.6/18th), Sophie Connolly (21:28.0/22nd), and Bella Browne (21:28.7/23rd) also all finished in the top 25 individually.
- As a team, the USF women secured first with 41 points, while Stanislaus State (82 points, second), California Baptist (87 points, third), California (95 points, fourth), and Santa Clara (138 points) rounded out the top five. For the men, San Francisco (50 points) finished second behind only No. 24 California Baptist (33 points), with California (77 points, third), Santa Clara (109 points), and Stanford (150 points) all finishing in the top five.
