THE RUNDOWN
SAN FRANCISCO – Visiting Loyola Marymount got a pair of quick goals at the beginning of each half that proved to be more than enough, as LMU defeated USF 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at Negoesco Stadium.
Loyola Marymount (6-3-3, 1-1-0 WCC) scored in the sixth minute of the first half when Melissa Lewis corralled her own shot and beat Olivia Camera to her left inside the box to go up 1-0.
In the second half before the fans had settled back into their seats, LMU scored on a corner-kick 49 second into the period to go up 2-0 when Shelby Cormier took the pass from Maddie Medved and beat the Dons' keeper on a header. LMU eventually scored a third goal late in the game on a through pass by Lewis to Sarina Bolden who capitalized for her fourth goal of the year.
The Dons attack was active in the opening half, taking nine shots. Unfortunately, LMU's keeper Charlee Pruitt was up to the task, collecting six saves in the period. She added one more for the clean sheet. Camera finished the afternoon with two saves on the day.
