SAN FRANCISCO – A trio of first half goals and a stellar defensive effort propelled the University of San Francisco women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over visiting Oklahoma on Sunday afternoon at Negoesco Stadium.

Sonja Giraud scored twice with
Miciah Madison scoring the game winner all in the opening half. Sophomore keeper
Olivia Camera finished the day with eight saves and was a second half penalty kick away from a clean sheet as she and the Dons improved to 3-4-2 on the year.Â

STATS OF THE GAME
- Giraud broke a scoreless tie with her first goal of the afternoon coming in the 16th minute, she sent a long lob past the keeper who was well out of the box. Her second goal beat the horn at half on a feed from inside the box from Madison.
- The two goals scored by Giraud are her first multi-goal game of the season, she now has six goals on the year, a new career-high.Giraud now moves into a tie with former Don Meghan Daly (1999-2002) for seventh all-time with 19 career goals.
- The 20 shots by Oklahoma was the third most the Dons have faced all season, most was the 39 shots taken by Stanford earlier this year.
- Defender Autumn Smithers joined Camera as the only two Dons to play the full 90 minutes.
- Oklahoma outshot USF 20-12, including a 10-4 advantage in the second half.Defensively, USF tallied two team saves as they kept the Sooners off the board for the first 71 minutes.

The Dons return to the road next weekend when they travel to Southern California to take on UC Riverside on Friday, September 22 before wrapping up the weekend at UC Irving on Sunday September 24.Â
