THE RUNDOWN
SAN FRANCISCO – Head coach Jim Millinder called tonight's match one of the toughest the USF women's soccer team has played in his six seasons at USF. The Dons' defense was spectacular keeping visiting Pepperdine off the attack for most of the evening, unfortunately a late goal by the visiting team gave the Waves a 1-0 win on Friday evening at Negoesco Stadium.
A loose ball knocked out of the hands of keeper Olivia Camera by Pepperdine's (7-2-2, 1-0-0 WCC) Bri Visalli proved to be the game winning goal. It came in the 65th minute. Aside from that, the Dons defense turned away attack after attack from the Waves.
USF (4-6-2, 0-1-0 WCC) had their chances. Against one of the toughest defensive teams in the nation, USF tallied 17 shots on the evening, eight on goal. None better than the shot by senior forward Sonja Giraud that got past the Waves' keeper but scraped off the post to go wide for a goal kick.

The Dons will stay at home when they host Loyola Marymount on Sunday. The match is slated for a 1:00 p.m. start time.

STATS OF THE GAME
- The Dons outshot the Waves 17-13.It is the first match that USF has outshot their opponent since Sept. 3 against Oregon State.
- Keeper Olivia Camera finished with six saves on the evening, she now has 81 saves on the year.
- USF's eight shots on goal is tied for the second most all season, last time the Dons had eight shots on goal came in a 3-1 win over visiting Oklahoma.
