Dons Drop Pitching Duel to Gonzaga

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco baseball team (17-18, 1-7 WCC) dropped the second game of the series Saturday afternoon, falling to Gonzaga (13-18, 9-2 WCC) 8-0 at Benedetti Diamond.

- Gonzaga put a run on the board early, using back-to-back hits from Max Coupe and Payton Knowles to grab a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning.
- Pitching highlighted the following four frames as San Francisco held Gonzaga hitless while only allowing two baserunners.
- The Bulldogs struck in the following inning, totaling three runs in the top of the seventh to take a commanding 4-0 lead.
- Four more runs came across in the ninth for the Bulldogs, solidifying the win and the series victory.
- Four players recorded a hit for the Dons throughout the contest as TJ Rogers, Logan Azem, Matty Fung, and Myles Kallinger found success at the plate. Fung and Rogers also reached base on walks while Azem posted a hit by pitch.
- Despite the loss, Lance Santerre pitched a solid 6.1 innings, allowing just two runs on three hits and striking out four.
