SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco women's basketball program and Head Coach Molly Goodenbour have announced the addition of Belize Ibáñez Mengüç for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
Belize is a combo guard with point guard experience, Goodenbour said. She is currently attending Rig Luleå—the same basketball club as former Don Freja Werth. She has experience competing at a high level in the Swedish top league this past and also as a member of the EuroBasket U18 Division B team last summer.
Ibáñez Mengüç, a freshman guard from Stockholm, Sweden, joins the program on the Hilltop after spending time with Rig Luleå of Sweden Damligan. In 43 games in three seasons with Rig Luleå, Ibáñez Mengüç averaged 7.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists.
In a breakout season in 2024-25, Ibáñez Mengüç totaled 8.5 points per game while adding 6.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 3.3 steals per game in 13 games played. She was also named team captain in her second season with the organization and 2024 Baltic Basketball Cup Most Valuable Player.
At the international level, Ibáñez Mengüç most recently competed in the 2025 FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket Division B, where she averaged 7.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists while helping guide Sweden to a gold medal. Scoring in double figures twice for Blågult in the tournament, Ibáñez Mengüç registered her best performance with 20 points, six rebounds, and four assists in the 86-76 victory over Ireland in the Group Phase.
In the gold medal match against Germany, she recorded five points and a tournament-high seven rebounds in the 77-69 win.
