OGDEN, Utah – Petra Fritz recorded her first double-double of the season as the University of San Francisco volleyball team (1-1) earned a five-set come-from-behind victory over Belmont (1-1) Saturday afternoon at Swenson Gym.

Entering the third set in a 2-0 hole in the match, San Francisco battled back and secured the third set, 25-23. In a back-and-forth affair, the Dons jumped ahead late, 21-20, following a Katariina Korhonen kill. The green and gold ultimately prevailed as Fritz punctuated the third-set win with back-to-back kills.
In a closely contested fourth frame, San Francisco used a late push to force a deciding fifth set. Leading 20-19, kills from Emma Neukirchen and Maeve Bailey gave the green and gold its largest lead of the set. Fritz again served as the Dons' closer as she recorded three straight kills to solidify the 25-21 victory.
The Dons dominated the fifth set, jumping out to a 13-7 advantage following a 3-0 scoring run. Anica Bobic and Neukirchen set the tone with a block, Korhonen added a kill, and Belmont recorded an attack error to conclude the green and gold's run. After the Bruins got to within five, 13-8, Korhonen ended the match with consecutive kills to give the Dons a 15-8 victory in the set and a match win.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

Fritz led San Francisco on both sides of the ball, recording a match-high 20 kills and 17 digs for her fourth career double-double and first as a member of the green and gold. Her 17 digs matched a career best as she reached the mark at San Francisco last season on November 8, 2025, while playing at Seattle U. Defensively, Fritz led the team with two solo blocks.
Korhonen, Bailey, and Neukirchen also guided the team offensively, combining for 42 kills and a .272 hitting percentage. In just her second career match, Korhonen totaled 16 kills while Bailey and Neukirchen added 13 apiece and swung over a .300 clip.
Adelynn Legates and Jordan Smart impressed in passing, finishing the match with a combined 53 assists. Legates led the Dons with 27 while Smart added 26, her eighth 20+ assist performance of her career.
As a team, San Francisco totaled 71 kills, the fourth time the program has recorded 70 or more kills in a match in the last four seasons and the most since recording 74 against Portland State on September 5, 2025.
