
Owls Defeat Dons on Friday

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The University of San Francisco (USF) volleyball team (2-3) could not overcome a potent Temple (3-1) offense on Friday as the Dons fell to the Owls, 3-0, at Global Credit Union Arena.
How It Happened
- San Francisco fell behind early, dropping the first set 25-20. USF trailed by as many as six points as Temple never surrendered the lead in a set that was tied up twice before the Owls took control. Maive Bailey finished with three kills in the opening set.
- Moving into set two, Temple remained in control by grabbing the second set, 25-18. The Dons dropped the second set in spite of a solid performance on the attacking end, as San Francisco registered a .333 attack percentage with 11 kills in the set loss.
- USF could not gain momentum early in the third set, but the green and gold continued to fight as they narrowed the gap to 14-11 midway through. Temple responded with a 4-1 run to take a six-point lead (18-12), turning the tide back in the favor of the Owls. Temple held on down the stretch, securing the set win 25-15.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Bailey had a team-high eight kills for San Francisco while Katariina Korhonen (6) and Petra Fritz (5) each tallied at least five kills.
- Lauren Amaro led the Dons with a match-high 15 digs. Korhonen was second on the team with seven digs.
- USF attackers were helped by a team-high nine assists from both Jordan Smart and Adelynn Legates.
