San Francisco Prepares for a Non-Conference Contest at Portland State

PORTLAND, Ore. – The University of San Francisco women's basketball team, facing off against a Big Sky opponent for the second straight game, hits the road to take on Portland State at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, at Viking Pavilion.

San Francisco and Portland State have faced off twice, with the last meeting occurring during the 1987-88 season when the Vikings earned a narrow 76-71 win at War Memorial Gym. The Dons defeated the Vikings in the first-ever meeting, earning a 70-61 win during the 1983-84 season at home.

- Last time on the court, the Dons returned to War Memorial at the Sobrato Center last Saturday and dropped a 92-76 decision to Northern Arizona.
- Debora dos Santos recorded her fourth double-double of the season against the Lumberjacks, putting together a 17-point, 10-rebound performance while shooting 60 percent (six-for-10) from the field. Leading the WCC and ranking 57th nationally in rebounding, dos Santos averages 8.9 rebounds per game, totaling 80 through nine games this season.
- Luana Leite reached double figures for the second time in her Division I career, scoring 15 points on an efficient 80 percent (four-for-five) from the floor. Leite also added a

- As a team, San Francisco averages 64.2 points per game, with Jasmine Gayles leading the team with 15 points per game. The Dons have successfully passed the ball and rebounding this season, averaging 14.8 assists and 38.6 rebounds per game.
- Portland State enters Saturday's contest with a 5-3 record after escaping at home with a 69-60 win over Bushnell, an NAIA school on Tuesday. Previously, the team dropped a narrow 65-54 decision at Oregon last week.
- Esmeralda Morales leads the Vikings offensively through nine games, averaging 20.5 points per game while shooting 43.4 percent from the field. Morales has surpassed the 20-point threshold in three of the team's last four games, while recording a season-high 27 in a win over Seattle U on November 25.
- The Vikings have multiple players who contribute defensively, with Mia 'Uhila leading in defensive rebounds (37), Joy Haltom leading in steals (18), and Lana Wenger leading in blocks (five).
