IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Although the Toreros would jump out to an early lead, the Dons trimmed their deficit to four, 8-4, in the opening set following a kill from Orsula Staka. Shortly thereafter, USF flexed their muscle by outscoring USF 10-2 through the middle of the match to take a 19-7 advantage. Aiming to climb back, Sophie Sydenham, Aylen Ayub and Shyia Richardson each tallied kills for the Dons, but USD would hang on to secure the first match point, 25-14.
- Flipping the script, USF took a 6-4 lead to begin set two after two attack errors from the Toreros. Answering the call once again, USD responded with an 8-3 run of their own to regain their advantage, 10-7. Dominating in the closing moments, San Diego would use a 10-2 stretch to secure their second match point, 25-14.
- Keeping close to begin the third set, the Dons knotted the score at six following another kill from Richardson. Trading points through the remainder of the set, USF stayed within striking distance, 23-19, after a kill a from Hannah Kinnison, but the Toreros were ultimately able to hold on to defend their home court and secure the victory in straight sets, 3-0.
- Leading the attack once again, Richardson paced the USF offense with a team-high seven kills. Notably, Saturday marked her fifth consecutive match and 16th overall with at least seven kills.
- For Ayub, the Argentinian continued her streak of double-digit assists, logging 18 total against the Toreros. Impressively, it also marked her tenth match with at least 18 kills in the game.
- Defensively, five different Dons recorded at least five digs: Richardson (6), Letizia Aquilino (6), Ayub (5), Sara Denham (5) and Brunna Correa (5).
