USF Begins Final Home Stand Against Santa Clara

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Back at home to open their final home stand of the regular season, the University of San Francisco volleyball team (0-20, 0-12) is set to welcome Santa Clara (8-14, 4-8) to War Memorial at the Sobrato Center on Friday evening.

- Last time out, the Dons dropped two matches on the road to two top 25 programs, falling to No. 7 BYU, 3-0, on Thursday, Oct. 28 and to No. 20 San Diego, 3-0, on Saturday, Oct. 30.
- Heading into Saturday's match, Orsula Staka currently sits fifth in the WCC in hitting percentage with a .342 clip while Letizia Aquilino is fifth in digs per set with 3.19.
- Looking ahead, the Dons will host Portland next Thursda, Nov. 11 before closing out their home schedule with Senior Day on Saturday, Nov. 13 against Gonzaga.
- In their last time on the court, the Broncos played a reverse schedule to USF, falling to No. 20 San Diego, 3-0, on Thursday, Oct. 28 followed by a 3-0 loss to No. 7 BYU on Saturday, Oct. 30.
- Coming into their matchup with USF, Santa Clara currently has multiple athletes ranked in the top five in the conference in multiple statistical categories: Kat Georgiadis (352 total digs/second), Georgiadis (4.19 digs per set/second), Michelle Shaffer (0.39 service aces per set/tied for third), Nive Tuleta (9.55 assists per set/fourth), Julia Sangiacomo (299 total kills/fourth), Sangiacomo (3.65 kills per set/fifth).
- Overall, the Broncos will battle the Dons in their final of three straight road contests before returning home to the Leavey Center to battle Gonzaga and Portland next weekend.
- Santa Clara currently leads the all-time series, 70-17, but the Dons have won four of the last seven meetings between the two. During the shortened 2020 spring season, the two teams split a pair of meetings, but the Broncos topped USF 3-0 at home last month.
