BSB | Riley Ornido Earns Rawlings WCC Pitcher of the Week Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco's Riley Ornido earned Rawlings West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week honors, announced by the conference office today.
In his start against East Bay rivals, Saint Mary's, Ornido threw another gem as he took a no-hitter into the eighth inning. The first hit for Saint Mary's would come with two outs in the eighth inning with a single to left field. For the second time this season, the sophomore would come out in the ninth inning to try and earn a complete game but, after getting two outs, would be replaced by Brendan Jenkins. Ornido received a well-deserved standing ovation from the crowd for his efforts, and the Dons went on to win the game 1-0.
Past the halfway point of the season, Ornido boasts an impressive 7-0 record with a 1.50 ERA, and a .128 batting average against. His total wins and batting average against are tops in the WCC, while his strikeout total is fourth in the WCC and tops on the team.
This is the second consecutive week the Dons have had a player earn player/pitcher of the week honors from the WCC, with Riley Helland earning player of the week last Monday.
