SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco baseball team (22-25, 13-9) dropped a 7-0 West Coast Conference decision to Gonzaga (30-17, 17-5) in the series opener Friday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- San Francisco failed to advance a runner past second base during the game. The Dons went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the sixth, when Trevor Harmon made it into scoring position with one out.
- Jared Lewis reached base three times throughout the contest, going one-for-two at the plate with two walks.
- Eddison Esquivel, Jackson Nystrom, and Harmon also reached, combining for three base hits.
- Gabriel Barrett, appearing out of the bullpen for the first time this season, pitched the final five innings and allowed two runs on six hits and struck out three batters. He held Gonzaga scoreless in the last four frames while only allowing three hits.
UP NEXT:
San Francisco returns to the Hilltop at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, when it hosts Gonzaga in the second game of the series, at Benedetti Diamond.
