Tschannen played both volleyball and basketball at her local Doherty High School in Colorado Springs. She was a middle blocker for the USF volleyball team from 1989 to 1992. During her time as a Don, Tschannen made All-West Coast Conference Second Team and was a two-time USF team MVP, in 1990 and in 1992. In 1990, Tschannen led the WCC in attack percentage at .325 and was a WCC All-Academic selection. In her senior year, Tschannen was All-WCC First Team and ranked in the USF Career Top-5 in multiple categories: 1,339 kills (third), 3.44 kills per game (fourth) and 397 blocks (third).

Why Tschannen Chose USF: “I chose USF because of the coach, Laurie Corbelli. I stayed after she left because I loved being on the USF campus where I felt safe, but was also able to venture out into the city.”

Favorite USF Memories: “I remember playing at Saint Mary's in Moraga two days after the Bay Bridge re-opened (after the Loma Prieta earthquake.) We were never as quiet as we were in that van ride across the bridge.”

Life After USF: Following graduation, Tschannen earned her Master’s in Physical Therapy from the University of Puget Sound. She coached volleyball for several years, then took up rowing in her thirties, and has been coaching rowing for the last several years. Tschannen especially enjoys coaching junior and para-athletes.
