One of the top point guards in the history of the Women’s Basketball program. Adkins twice led the West Coast Conference in steals, and earned First Team All-WCC honors as a senior at 11.0 points and 5.8 rebounds. She finished her USF career first in assists, and in steals. A six-time honor-roll student, Tami earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.

Remembering Adkins: “She was a true point guard in every sense. She was pass first – and second and third. She was the most unselfish player I have ever coached. She always put the team first and did whatever it took to accomplish that. But looking back, what sticks out in my mind was Tami’s leadership skills. She led by example and in many ways - she was another coach on the floor. She was a fierce competitor and hated to lose! She was a great ambassador for the University and the Women’s Basketball Program," stated USF Hall of Fame Coach Bill Nepfel.

Did You Know? In a game against Cal State-Northridge on December 17, 1990, Adkins set a USF and WCC single-game record with 11 steals.

Life After USF: Two years following her graduation, she returned to USF as an Assistant Coach on Bill and Mary Hile-Nepfel’s staff for four seasons. The Dons won the WCC regular season Title, two WCC Tournament Championships, and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 showing in 1995-1996.
