Baseball Evens Series with Narrow Victory Over Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. – The University of San Francisco baseball team (19-17, 10-4) broke through late and earned a narrow 5-4 victory over Portland (21-15, 7-7) Saturday afternoon at Joe Etzel Field.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- TJ Rogers gave San Francisco the lead at the top of the third inning as he recorded a three-run home run over the left-field wall. Isaiah Landry and Jared Lewis scored on the play after reaching base on a single and a walk.
- Landry registered an RBI single in the following frame, scoring Jayden Garriosn, to extend the Dons' advantage to 4-0.
- Portland tied the game with four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, highlighted by a three-run blast from Leo Cote.
- With the bases loaded in the eighth, Lewis recorded a long sacrifice fly to right center field, plating Myles Kallinger for a 5-4 edge in favor of the green and gold.
- Quentin Pohorski closed out the Pilots in the bottom of the ninth inning, recording two strikeouts to solidify the victory.
- Rogers paced San Francisco offensively, going two-for-five at the plate, with a home run and three RBI. Rogers' long ball marked his 10th of the season, and became the first player in the WCC with double-digit home runs this season.
- Trevor Harmon also totaled two base hits in four at-bats throughout the contest for his ninth multi-hit game of the season.
- Landry was perfect at the plate, going three-for-three, his second three-hit game, with an RBI and a run scored.
- Gauge Lockhart was near perfect on the mound, pitching a career-best 6.1 innings while allowing one run on two hits, two walks, and striking out four.
- Pohorski earned his fifth save of the season as he pitched the final two frames and recorded two strikeouts.

San Francisco returns to action when it takes on Portland in the series finale at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Apr. 18, at Joe Etzel Field.
