2016 (FRESHMAN): Made his first six appearances as the Saturday starter before making seven of his final eight appearances out of the bullpen... went 0-3 with a 5.13 ERA overall... registered 14 strikeouts in 33.1 innings on the year... had his longest outing of the season in his USF debut at UC Santa Barbara (Feb. 20), throwing 5.2 innings where he allowed four runs on seven hits while walking three and striking out two, earning a no-decision... took his first loss at Cal Poly (Mar. 4), going 2.2 innings and allowing four runs on five hits with three walks and a strikeout... registered his first outing without allowing a run at Santa Clara (Mar. 19), taking a no-decision after throwing 4.2 innings where he scattered five hits, walked one and struck out a season-high three... had his longest relief appearance with three innings against New Mexico where he allowed two runs (0 earned) on two hits with a walk while matching his season high with three strikeouts.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played for head coach Jason Searle at Novato High School... named first team All-Marin County Athletic League as a pitcher, and second team as a utility player... also lettered in football, helping lead his team to an MCAL title... played summer ball with the California Warriors.
PERSONAL: Born Apr. 25, 1997 in Walnut Creek, Calif…. parents are Drake and Leslie Gardner... majoring in business: entrepreneurship & innovation... would like to play professionally and help motivate others after graduating from USF... was on the honor roll every year in high school... his grandfather played football at Oregon State, while his father played quarterback at Kansas State before transferring to play at Cal... enjoys boating, paddle boarding, fishing, and is a self-proclaimed great chef.
