William Harland Montgomery III graduated from Colgate University in Hamilton, NY in 1981, and from medical school at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center. He did his surgical internship at Beth Israel Medical Center, and completed his orthopedic residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City in 1991. He completed a Fellowship in Sports Medicine at Kerlan Jobe Clinic in Los Angeles, where he specialized in the care of professional teams, including the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Rams, the Lakers, and the Kings. During his medical career, he has been the team physician for the San Francisco Giants, the Richmond Spiders, the Seals and the San Jose Lasers, in addition to the USF Dons. He is Vice Chairman of the Department of Orthopedics at St. Mary’s Medical Center. At the time of his induction to the USF Hall of Fame, he had been serving as Team Physician to the USF teams for 25 years.
